No Smoking……anywhere it appears….

Noticed this sign earlier on today and felt i just had to post something about it….

No Smoking!

I’m all in favour of the smoking ban, as in many ways, its helped me cut down on how much i smoke rather than the usual chain smoking with a pint that often used to ensue on a night out. However, there are some things about this smoking ban that annoy me, usually my only moan about the law is not being allowed to smoke at train stations, even when there is no one else on the platform, or at least no-one near where the smoking is taking place (far end of Gatwick airport platform for example, more chance of breathing in aviation fumes than any cigarette smoke! and have these people not seen the exhaust that comes off some of the trains!)

however, the pic above really does show how this law could be going a little too far when it is illegal to smoke walking through a subway that can be walked through in something like 8 paces! its not exactly the kind of place that large numbers of people congregate and whilst it is true it is an enclosed space, is it really going to do any harm to anyone if someone smoking walks through it? i think not…..

anyway, my rant is over and i hope you’ve enjoyed reading it…..take care, g

update

as im in a rather chirpy mood ive just updated the Enziguri page with some artwork….all the images used are pictures ive taken and im pretty pleased with some of them…feel free to lambast me for that statement once youve seen them!

DMTM rock the tumbledown!

The farewell gig for Chris Moose Day and my word what a good gig it was.

The best show i can remember playing with the moose, not only were we tight but apart from a few minor plectrum issues i made barely any mistakes! first time for everything un all that…..the rest of the band all enjoyed themseves immensly too which was nice to see! big shout out to The Landings and Bronz Zoo who were both great support and got the crowd nicely warmed up for us!

ive set up a little slide show below of a few of the pics taken with my camera (thanks Charlie!) so check em out, ill sort out some more at a later date! thanks to everyone who came along on saturday, was an awesome night even before i ended up in guildford….though thats another story entirely…

take care, my regards go out to the legendary Chris, he will be missed in the moose but now is the time of a new era…the time of pacman….bring it on!

Melon Farmer@ the Dublin Castle, Camden

Last night in Camden, a little known, but rather wonderful band known as Melon Farmer played the Dublin Castle….a venue i will always remember as it was where My Deaf Audio played many years ago and shockingly a week later found themselves in Kerrang! Tis a cool little venue, intimate maybe, but a good vibe and a good sound so all good!

yet again i took far too many photos, a few of which are posted below……

The moose return…..12th Jan 2008

Howdy all,

just a little post about the gig i shall be playing next saturday!

the moose are playing at the Tumbledown dick in Farnborough on the 12th Jan 08. We will be headlining so expect us on around 9pm though id suggest getting there at 7:30pm to check out the support bands, Bronz Zoo & The Landings!

Tickets are £5 on the door, or £4.50 if you shout me before hand….

the year that was 2007

holy crap, is it really the end of the year already….

another year flys by, yet as ever im wondering where it all went….sadly i think its fair to so that ive spent far too much of it working, though its also fair to say that this year has been a great one for me in respect of my career, in other circumstances i would be on my way to germany! a lot of big decisions need to be made next week, but ill worry about that next year i think.

musically, 2007 has been a pretty awesome year, with the moose playing a number of shows (culminating tonight at a new years eve party!), the highlight for me being fleet festival, even if it was a quagmire (giggity!)! Enziguri has gone from strength to strength, and the challenge of recording, mixing and producing is awesome….just got to convince the rest of the band to gig now! expect more from both bands in 2008! as for bands ive been listening to, minus the bear, saves the day, the cardigans, daft punk, the go team, and motion city soundtrack have all seen extensive mp3 player action….the rx bandits show in london was one of the best ive been too!

what else of 2007, well, on a negative note, i could have done without having a needless operation and i should have gone on holiday more, a week in cyprus and a weekend away in amsterdam doesnt really cut it! would have liked to have played a few more gigs too but i dont think i should be complaining too much, i love my new digi camera to bits and i think i might have found a creative streak in me that i didnt realise was there!

anyways, if anyone does read this, i hope your 2007 has been good to you….overall im gonna give it a 8/10! though im not entirely sure that means anything…..
take care, Happy 2008!
