Movember!!!

•October 29, 2011 • Leave a Comment

It’s Movember, the month formerly known as November, now dedicated to growing moustaches and raising awareness and funds for men’s health; specifically prostate and testicular cancer. I’m donating my top lip to the cause for 30 days in an effort to help change the face of men’s health. My Mo will spark conversations, and no doubt generate some laughs; all in the name of raising vital awareness and funds for cancer’s affecting men.

I invite you to join me by registering to grow or by donating to my support of the Mo http://mobro.co/geoffbrown79.

Funds raised will help make a tangible difference to the lives of others. Through the Movember Foundation and our men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and The Institute of Cancer Research, Movember is funding world class awareness, research, educational and support programs which would otherwise not be possible.

Thank you in advance for helping me change the face of men’s health.

time for a post, random thoughts…..

hmm, so much for me keeping this blog up-to-date! here’s a summary of news in the world of Geoff!

- Website -
The band you didn’t even realise you really want to listen to……Website website

- Cursive Simulation -
currently working for a small simulation company called Cursive which is interesting and infuriating at the same time (the infuriating coming from trying to code with no decent documentation right now!). Will link to our Twitter account soon, and expect more news soon!!

- Hove Actually -
I now live in Hove (actually)…..and couldn’t be happier to be back by the sea, not far from where I grew up….

well that’s an update (of varying interest), I’ll try to remember to post some more interesting posts sometime soon!

Happy New Year!

•January 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

think i said it last year but my god where has the year gone?! been a hectic, busy, interesting and different year but then when you quit your job to go back to university its probably going to be!

university is a lot of fun a second time around, though the shock of education was a bit much to start with! the course is an Msc in space technology and pre-xmas i took four exams whose results will be out soon…hopefully theyll be a good start to the new year! i’ll try and add something to the MSc Project page in the next week or so!

sadly im trying to think of exciting things ive done this year but the choice is limited though that may be my memory rather than anything else! Sweden with Johanna was nice, stockholm is a cool place, so was Reading for Rage against the machine! other than that i guess quiting my job was exciting in some sense, though i do miss the salary! good to have a decent game at the nfl (at wembley) this year too, looking forward to a superbowl with my boys in february, though sadly without the 9ers (quelle surprise!?)

Christmas turned our to be pretty kind to me which i certainly cant complain about, made the effort to cook the christmas dinner (in cahoots with Jen and Taz!) worth it…

here’s to a great 2009 everybody! take care,

peace, out

my god, an update!

•December 1, 2008 • Leave a Comment

thought it was about time i wrote at least something on this blog……I’m far too lazy for this malarkey though I fear!

Anyway, in an attempt to make this blog a bit more dynamic I’ve added a new page on which i shall be detailing the work I’m doing as part of my MSc Project, Resonant Forcing of L-point orbits….the link is on the right under MSc Project.

I guess that would indicate the key update since I last blogged, that I am indeed again a pesky student, really enjoying the challenge of academia again though not so much the current revising for exams that begin a week today!

Right, I’m feeling warm and fuzzy for actually having something new to post so I shall leave it there, hopefully over Christmas I’ll have some more time to blog some more, until then…take care all

No Smoking……anywhere it appears….

•March 15, 2008 • 7 Comments

Noticed this sign earlier on today and felt i just had to post something about it….

No Smoking!

I’m all in favour of the smoking ban, as in many ways, its helped me cut down on how much i smoke rather than the usual chain smoking with a pint that often used to ensue on a night out. However, there are some things about this smoking ban that annoy me, usually my only moan about the law is not being allowed to smoke at train stations, even when there is no one else on the platform, or at least no-one near where the smoking is taking place (far end of Gatwick airport platform for example, more chance of breathing in aviation fumes than any cigarette smoke! and have these people not seen the exhaust that comes off some of the trains!)

however, the pic above really does show how this law could be going a little too far when it is illegal to smoke walking through a subway that can be walked through in something like 8 paces! its not exactly the kind of place that large numbers of people congregate and whilst it is true it is an enclosed space, is it really going to do any harm to anyone if someone smoking walks through it? i think not…..

anyway, my rant is over and i hope you’ve enjoyed reading it…..take care, g

The farewell gig for Chris Moose Day and my word what a good gig it was.

The best show i can remember playing with the moose, not only were we tight but apart from a few minor plectrum issues i made barely any mistakes! first time for everything un all that…..the rest of the band all enjoyed themseves immensly too which was nice to see! big shout out to The Landings and Bronz Zoo who were both great support and got the crowd nicely warmed up for us!

ive set up a little slide show below of a few of the pics taken with my camera (thanks Charlie!) so check em out, ill sort out some more at a later date! thanks to everyone who came along on saturday, was an awesome night even before i ended up in guildford….though thats another story entirely…

take care, my regards go out to the legendary Chris, he will be missed in the moose but now is the time of a new era…the time of pacman….bring it on!

Melon Farmer@ the Dublin Castle, Camden

•January 4, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Last night in Camden, a little known, but rather wonderful band known as Melon Farmer played the Dublin Castle….a venue i will always remember as it was where My Deaf Audio played many years ago and shockingly a week later found themselves in Kerrang! Tis a cool little venue, intimate maybe, but a good vibe and a good sound so all good!

yet again i took far too many photos, a few of which are posted below……
